Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
Ms. Mancilla was absent during English last Monday, so we were just asked to read Things Fall Apart. Mine was in the locker. Melinda offered to read to me from an Anne Rice book (when you’re at the back, you get the feeling that you can do anything). And she did. I was like “Aah! Stop!” But she went on anyway. Ironically, it was at that moment that I was answering a question on the 6th Commandment in my CLE book. Talk about timing.
I had to go to the dentist’s after school to get my cavities fixed. (Mom glared at me when she heard this. I couldn’t help rolling my eyes. Like, hello?! When was the last time I went to the dentist? I always thought overall checkups were parental responsibility…)
The hated Dentist Drill of Doom was used on me several times, each of which I had to pinch myself to take my mind off it. Explains the nail marks all over my hand…
The process of pasta-ing, or whatever took a pretty long time, during which the saliva in my hanging open mouth began to reach an unbearable amount. I had an uncomfortable feeling that I could die on the spot by choking on my own spit. I don’t know which was worse, that or losing my poise.
I held out a little longer though, and my patience was due rewarded. The end result felt (and tasted) weird, but at least I was done with the thing.
But I’m still scared of doctors. Any and every kind.
We dissected a snail yesterday at lab. The paraffin wax tray smells worse than a morgue, what with all the dead things taken apart by it in over twenty years. I originally thought the dissecting wasn’t until next week, though we already got our snails, cause I asked Sir Mark and he told me we’d be studying osmosis. Imagine my shock to see him first thing in the morning with dissecting tools. The bad thing about it was, I already told Ja and some other people that. She didn’t bring her snail!!! (I left mine in the flowerbox near the classroom—whew.) Karma! Karma for the times she stood me up (due to miscommunication) during her experiments. But I didn’t want it to happen like that! I asked Sir Mark again “SIR! Kala ko sabi mo osmosis!” To which he said “Kala ko nga rin e.”
I felt like strangling him on the spot.
Luckily, Ja and Ky found a huge snail crawling around near the HS building. Buti na lang.
I couldn’t identify the snail parts because my groupmates had fun mashing it up. It looked worse than a scrambled egg, and far, far LESS recognizable. I couldn’t look, but I do think it was dead even before the dissecting got to it. It was pretty lethargic compared to the other snails, and I don’t doubt that it died from the trauma it got from getting poked by people.
Ja and I played an online math game later during CAI. HAHA! Moneyopolis is soooo fun! Nyak, Ja, we’re nerds! Hahaha! I could see everyone else doing boring polynomial factoring online. Well, you see, when you’re as addicted to the internet as Ja is, you don’t have trouble finding games on any math site, no matter how boring. Plus she’s buddies with the teacher. Which means that she could do what she wants most of the time. Teehee.
Aaah, the happiness of it all.
We went back again to the special school for children today. It’s still as scary as the first time. Ours was the most difficult group, even our evil frog of a teacher admitted that. They’re all in their twenties, I think, but speeeecial. We taught them (or only two of them) vowels. As usual, Benny was the only one who listened and cooperated. Richard, to my surprise, knew how to write the alphabet. He amazes me on that aspect, but we’re still VERY freaked out by him. He, er—let’s just say that he needs to practice the virtue of CHASTITY, even though he’s in that state. Look it up.
We got around to the subject of Sailormoon during Algeb. Ja was like “Ay oo, yung mga lesbiana!” Yun naman ang memories. The way she said it was so funny that both of us just literally cackled. Everybody looked around and were like “Ano ba namang tawa yan…” And then Sher began doing Sailormoon poses and shouting things like “Magic Lipstick! Ay, Laser Lipstick!” HAHA! Ja and I were doubled back in laughter. My sides were already painful from laughing. Ja was doing no better either. Haha.
I recorded some observations of the vinegar today. It’s been the fourth day since the dead yeast was filtered. I’m getting nervous about the paper, but I’ve resolved to do it as early as now, even if it’s until procedures only. Its taste reminds me of beer, but I can’t accurately tell, since I only put a drop on my tongue then spat it out afterwards.
Harry Potter ngayon. Swimming again tomorrow. Hassle. Tapos retreat from Friday to Sunday. *sigh*
